Clinical Supervisor-Veterans’ Bridge Home- Los Angeles

Carlos Lopez & Associates is currently recruiting for a Clinical Manager to provide clinical and managerial oversight to case management teams providing services and support delivered in the community to homeless/formerly homeless veterans enrolled in the HUD VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) Case Management Program. 

All services are grounded in a Housing First philosophy and are designed to help enrolled veterans referred by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs secure and maintain stable housing and prevent a return to homelessness.  Core daily activities include the successful achievement of program participant’s housing and community integration goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Founded in 2012, Carlos Lopez & Associates, LLC is a prime contractor with the U.S. Department of Veterans Administration (VA) providing HUD-VASH services to assist enrolled veterans in securing and maintaining stable housing and preventing a return to homelessness.  In collaboration with the local U.S. Department of Veterans Administration (VA), we provide professional, client-centered and customer-oriented services.

The primary role of the Clinical Supervisor is to provide ongoing management and oversight of case management personnel who are providing structured case management services and support to the Veteran’s Bridge Home Clients.

Schedule: On-site Monday – Friday 8am- 5pm, and on call and available for emergencies 24 hours a day, every day. (Hybrid schedule is available 2 days a week.)


• Provide clinical oversight of program assessment and services provided by the Case Managers to residents to ensure the quality of the services and to ensure that services meet or exceed regulatory guidelines.
• Oversee the clinical needs of residents in the facility.
• Review and approve individual treatment plans (Individualized Service Plans), casefile documentation, and other program documents to ensure thorough and accurate file documentation.
• Participate in program admissions to include pre-screening clients to determine if they are fit for placement in the shelter.
• Work in conjunction with Case Managers on outreach and engagement.
• Assign Caseloads, enroll, and dis-enroll clients in the program, using the electronic case management software systems to include Mission Tracker and clarity (HMIS).
• Conduct high-risk screening, and psychosocial assessment.
• Facilitate daily structured group meetings and group activities to promote social skills, healthy lifestyles, and psychosocial group sessions.
• Assist with Crisis intervention with an effort to maintain a safe and respectful environment, free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, does not allow weapons, threats, bullying or intimidation and reports any violations to the appropriate individual as soon as the incident occurs.
• Working in collaboration with Primary health care providers, case managers, employees, contractors, and outside consultants as needed to ensure a high-quality continuum of care that meets the needs of the client.
• Ensure that all relevant program staff provides timely, accurate and clear documentation according to established policies and procedures.
• Develop and provide ongoing clinical staff development, sharing clinical knowledge and enhancing the skills of direct reports. Related duties include establishing/revising clinical practice policy, case conferencing, individual and group supervision.
• Train program personnel as necessary in treatment protocols, diagnostic and bio-psychosocial assessment, interpretation, and formulation. Train and provide ongoing guidance to staff on clinical intervention strategies, treatment planning and behavioral health screenings as necessary toward ensuring excellent service delivery standards.
• Ensure the utilization of best and evidence-based approaches to mental health care consistent with health/mental health integration, rehabilitation and recovery, wellness, treatment adherence, and housing goals.
• Interpret relevant clinical information to resolve problems, imparting these skills unto staff; effectively balances considerations and alternatives to make sound decisions.
• Participate in daily, weekly, and ad-hoc team meetings, individual and group supervision sessions, seminars and trainings as scheduled.

• Working in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, actively participates in the applicant hiring and termination process. Interviews and screens applicants to identify qualified candidates, appropriately explains job content and performance expectations to applicants, and provides hiring and termination recommendations.
• Review casefile documentation and required paperwork completed by direct reports for accuracy and submits to program management in accordance with establish timeframes. Ensures the maintenance of all documentation as required by CL&A and the VAGLAHS.
• Help to ensure that subordinates maintain a high level of ethical professional standards.
• Identify quality assurance and risk management issues and bring them to the attention of the appropriate departments.
• Conduct ongoing supervision to evaluate performance of subordinates for quality assurance, staff development, and training opportunities.
• Provide culturally competent services in accordance with company policies.
• Handle confidential materials in a responsible manner.
• Handle unexpected situations by responding effectively to challenges, deadlines and emergencies, copes adequately with stress on the job.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedule and work assignments as defined by program needs.

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
• At least three (3) years of experience as a Clinical Supervisor of a residential homeless facility or relevant experience.
• Continuum of Care and Coordinated Entry System experience, preferred.
• HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) experience, preferred.
• Dependable, responsible, and the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully.
• Excellent customer service/public relations skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with others and independently.
• Housing Program Models and best practices like Housing First and focused model, Trauma-informed approach, Harm reduction strategies, motivational interviewing experience preferred.
• Demonstrates experience and ability to interact sensitively and respectfully with persons with a history of homelessness, chronic medical, mental health and substance abuse conditions.
• Must be able to successfully manage & coordinate multiple responsibilities and simultaneous duties.
• Commitment to excellence, ethical behavior, and professional standards.
• Ability to maintain emergency accessibility, work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Computer literate, Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records.
